Go with a Pro or Go it Alone?

Should I shoot and edit a video on my own or hire a professional to do it for me? Quick answer: that depends. But there are a few things that can make this decision easy to make.

A couple questions to ask yourself are: Where is this going to be played and how long do you plan to use it? If you are looking to make a quick market update video for social media, you are better off shooting it on your own. Videos that are quick and won’t be used for very long are better off being shot on your phone. This will save you both time and money, as you can post multiple videos in a short amount of time for very little cost. Most social media videos are more about the topics rather than the actual video production. Any video that is specific to a certain timeframe or season is only going to be relevant for a short period of time, so a self-shot video could be the way to go.

If you are looking to make videos for your website, something like a biography on who you are and how you can help your clients or maybe about a town or an area, you might be better off having a professional shoot and edit the video for you. I would make sure you look and sound as professional as you can to show your prospective clients you take this job seriously.

There will be some cost associated with going with a pro, but in the long run it may be worth it.

Go it alone or go with a pro? It’s up to you.
