On any given day this year, an average of 60 new marketing job requests have been opened in The Studio’s project management system. Keeping track of all of those projects is our talented team of multitasking project coordinators, who efficiently oversee and guide them through every phase of the creative process to ensure they are produced with accuracy and on time.

These time-management pros are indispensable to The Studio, playing a huge role in our ability to efficiently handle an enormous number of projects – over 10,000 job requests in the first eight months of 2021! – while serving as the go-between for their team and the client/requester, scheduling jobs, managing deadlines and delivering final products.

So, just what does it take to excel in this vital role? Actually, a wide range of skills and traits are needed, including a knack for communicating professionally and being highly organized, even-keeled, adaptable, tactful, assertive and diplomatic.

Working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, project coordinators control the red light/green light aspect of each marketing job, keeping things moving and shifting gears as needed to handle changes, roadblocks, unexpected delays and new demands.

Their role also requires a solid understanding of the creative process, plus design and print/web production, so they can present key information and collaborate with marketing teams, including copywriters, designers and managers, product teams and outside vendors such as print brokers and publications.

Juggling an enormous number of jobs and communicating with multiple people daily under looming deadlines can obviously be quite hectic and stressful, so staying cool under pressure is crucial to their success. Besides the previously mentioned skills and traits, these multitasking masters get the job done day in and day out by being focused, detail-oriented, resourceful and solution-oriented.

So, while the rest of us in The Studio are doing our part to create awesome marketing materials, these unsung heroes are working behind the scenes to make sure we stay on course so everything runs like a well-oiled machine.
