The Mother of All Annual Stat Updates

Real estate agents are natural networkers – give them a crowded room (pre-COVID, of course) and they’ll have their business card in every pocket within the hour. The end goal is to secure an appointment, whether the person is looking to buy or sell a property. In a way, that’s the easy part. But what do agents say once they’re sitting there in the living room, or in today’s world, sitting in front of their webcam on Zoom, to win the business?

That’s where The Studio comes in.

Agents need a very professional digital presentation that they can use to guide the conversation, covering all the key points that show why they’re the perfect agent for the business. We use Moxi Present, an industry-leading tool that enables agents to give a digital presentation with an integrated CMA that shows real-time market data from their local MLS. The Product team runs the product, and The Studio creates the content so agents have professionally designed presentations ready for them to use, including presentations for sellers, buyers, pre-listing, 12-minute seller presentations that focus on Listing Concierge, and Coldwell Banker Global Luxury seller presentations, as well as the seller presentation for the CENTURY 21® brand.

Creating these presentations was relatively straight forward – they’re designed and uploaded as PDFs. But keeping them updated is an entirely different matter. Each spring, The Studio reviews every page of every presentation, including the 28 different regional versions of each, to see what needs to be updated. This year, it was particularly complicated because Coldwell Banker has a new logo, many of the company-owned operations had changed their DBA to Coldwell Banker Realty, and on top of that, we changed our standard font. So, every single page – 2,500+ in total — had to be touched, updated, redesigned and uploaded back into Moxi.

No small feat for a normal annual update, but if there’s one thing we can all agree on, 2020 has been anything but normal. To coincide with our parent company’s annual earnings statement at the end of February, we begin our annual updates each year in the third week of March. And we all know what happened that week – massive COVID shutdowns.

This was, without a doubt, the most complicated and challenging annual stat update we’ve gone through in my eight years with the company. But, in typical Studio fashion, our team rose to the challenge and did an amazing job. We turned around the agent seller presentations within about three weeks (about 1,260+ pages), the recruiting presentation about one and a half week later, and the others were delivered within six weeks of when we began. We also learned from the process and are taking steps now to simplify the process even more, so next year’s updates will go more quickly.

So a big thanks to all our team members in copywriting, graphics, project management and product who worked together tirelessly to blast through this challenging update. You guys rock!
